Another excellent novel from the class pairing of Garth Ennis and Carlos Ezquerra. The premise of this novel is revenge by an ex special services lady in a war torn Europe where fascists have gone to war with Britain and the USA. It has plenty of blood and violence excellently illustrated by Carlos in his own unique style (has a look of Strontium Dog to it). As usual for Ennis the book has a great dry sense of humor and pokes fun at the establishment. It has great character development across the three stories contained in this TPB and the stories are interesting and compelling. Mary is a great hero (or should that be anti-hero) but my favorite character is “the Major” who is an old world upper class SAS stereotype. My only criticism of this book is that it is printed on toilet paper. Shame Vertigo can’t use better quality paper in their TPB’s especially as it lists for $20 [ISBN-13: 978-1401207250]. 8/10
