This is a very challenging book to read and definitely not for everyone. The art work is beautifully colored and drawn but often the way it is laid out makes it very confusing. The script is also very disjointed and hard to follow. The first few chapters gave me a headache and left me wondering if this was art for arts sake. By Chapter 3 some of the threads of story started to make some kind of sense but it was still the sort of book you have to lock yourself away in a quiet room to have any chance of following. Does a graphic novel have to be this frustrating just so hardened comic book readers have a sense of superiority over the more casual reader? Chapter 5 rounded things off nicely although I still found some of the pictures hard to follow (so busy and full of detail). Some great art work and sense of achievement in finishing this novel but I don’t think I will be buying the sequel. [ISBN-13: 978-1563897627]. 6/10.
